One of our early members was Carl Hugo Roemmele, an iron merchant from Germany, who settled in Glasgow to run a business and raise his family.

The oldest photograph we have of Arlington members dates from 1896 and is captioned Early morning swimmers at the Arlington Baths. It was taken by Pastor Adolph Hanns Geyer, the pastor of the German Protestant Church in Glasgow.
