In with the bricks

Two of our brickmarks: Cadder and Kelvinside

After a chance conversation with friends in the Construction History Society, we decided to have a look at where the bricks that built the Baths come from.

We complied a list of the brick marks we could see, mostly from the basement – constructed in 1875 – and compared them to the Scottish Brick History website.

So far we have identified at least 10 different brickyards from Darnley in the south of Glasgow to Bonnybridge, near Falkirk.
